Feeling connected is as important to our health as the food we eat. Our need to feel that we belong is programmed into our DNA. Studies have confirmed that social isolation is linked to increase in chronic conditions as we self-medicate to deal with loneliness. It also impacts our ability to be resilient in times of uncertainty.

Is it true?
Shawn Achor wrote an inspiring book called Big Potential. In it, he cites research from the University of Virginia which showed that "If you judge a hill you need to climb while standing by yourself, your brain perceives that hill as being 20 percent steeper than if you were standing next to a friend who is not even looking in the direction of the hill".

Tip:
Make 2022 the year you get support and begin to work on any health issues that may be keeping you isolated. Things like obesity, skin conditions and even gut disease which may limit where we can go and for how long.
